I just finished the procedure mentioned, saving the 2 most recent TM backups to an external drive (the "bad" drive was used for backing up two Macbooks). It took about a week to move 1.2TB. It seems DE moves data VERY slowly when there are hundreds of thousands of very small files (i.e. Mail messages, Plex Media library). *I understand this isn't a TM only problem.

Yes, the main problem is DB implementation in Data Extractor. The new version of PC-3000 will have improved DB implementation and will work (I hope) faster.

Dmitriy, can you confirm when using DE to grab the latest snapshot and saving the file from said snapshot, DE will grab the contents of the file regardless of if what you're trying to save is a hardlink back to the original file? I am trying with an imaged drive but am seeing corrupted files when I save them. Viewing first sector also shows not the original file.
