COM port error when using alternative initialization

Recently updated to newer computers for PC3000, we have the USB Terminal 2 adapters
It will still dump ROM and flash ROM just fine but when I use alternative initialization it drops the COM connection and cant reconnect until leaving utility and going back in.
Terminal itself works as well.
Trying to read system files on a rosewood for the DWF fix but it drops the COM connection.
Log gives a Win32 error Code 87.
Please help!
