USB problem

Postby emir_has » 16.04.22, 13:41

HI

I recently installed Windows 10 21H2 with all latest updates and now have problem with COM port adapter in PC-3000 7.0.30 version.
When I start utillity Seagate I cannot work with terminal even I have terminal output!
I always get this message: Software can`t control COM port signal level for this USB/COM adapter

Yes, I have tried to reinstall USB drivers, change USB cable but same situation. I use USB Terminal 2 by Acelab and also have USB Terminal 3 chines clone. Both adapters worked on WIndows 8.1.

Can someone help me with this problem?

Thanks

Hi
I have tried to reinstall Windows 10 again and same situation. I went back to Windows 8.1 and same problem. I have also tried with newer driver Silicon CP210x 6.7 from 2018 but no luck. All my USB ports work fine with any other device so maybe is this some kind of bug in PC-3000 software. Also to mention I always get reading in terminal, but cannot issue any command, also led blink on PC USB terminal when I am issuing command to terminal but no response!

Any help?

With PC USB Terminal 2, PC 3000 can not control voltages. Everything works fine here with original PC USB Terminal 3.

Just to want to report next:
Move PC-3000 UDMA card to new computer and same situation. Also Win 10
Reinstall Windows again on WIn 10 21H2 and now terminal shows same error but it can read in Seagate utility ROM over terminal. But when I want to for example open diag port it apply patch record back ROM but diag port is still locked!
Same message still show on initialization of seagates drive Software can`t control COM port signal level for this USB/COM adapter

The message "Software can`t control COM port signal level for this USB/COM adapter" is normal when you use PC USB Terminal 2.
You need PC USB Terminal 3 for letting PC 3000 control signal level / voltage from software.
Have no idea of how the "china clone" works, maybe you can set voltages manuel by jumper ?

I would expect that you get that message when using non original adapter.
But it should work okay, if you set the correct signal level for each drive family.

Right now I had the same described problem from emir_has, also in Windows 10 21H2, PC3000 UDMA-E, Version 6.9.16 - Terminal3 (original adapter from ACE Lab) never works with new installation of PC3000 software. In the Windows-System, it shows "ACE LAB Terminal 3" with incorrect driver.

But in my second PC3000 Express, Version 6.9.16, also with Windows 10 21H2, everything works fine with the Terminal3 (original adapter from ACE Lab). In the Windows-System, it shows "Prolific-USB-to-Serial-Com-Port", driver Version 3.8.40

So I went to: https://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProd ... 25&pcid=41

and downloaded: PL23XX_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v408.zip ... it works little mysterious, but after on my PC3000 UDMA-E I have now also "Prolific-USB-to-Serial-Com-Port" with driver Version 3.8.41 from 11.11.2021

There are also other versions/ direct drivers to download available.

On the profilic website there is written about 3.8.41:

Text from website:
"Windows 7/8.1/10 (32 & 64-bit) WDF WHQL Driver: v3.8.41.0 (/11/11/2021) / v5.1.4.0 (05/26/2022)

(For PL2303 HXD, SA, TA, TB, RA GC, GS, GT, GL, GE , GD, GR versions)
- Windows 10 Certified WHQL Driver (TH1 1507, TH2 1511, RS1 1607, RS2 1703, RS3 1709, RS4 1803,RS5 1809,19H1 1903, 19H2 1909, 20H1 VB, 21H1,versions)
- Windows Vista, 7, 8.1 Certified WHQL Driver
