Ring scratch about 1/4" around platter clamp

This is a Maxtor and heads park on platter.
Has anyone developed a way to avoid the actuator from going all the way back to park position that they're willing to share?
I was thinking of simply increasing the physical size of the stopper/brake so the arm actuator wouldn't be able to go all the way in back to it's original park position, avoiding that small ring.

Depending on the model I have used shrink tube around the stop. I added 2 or 3 pieces until it was the right thickness. Once the top magnet was installed there was no way for the tubing to come off. I do like the idea of hot glue as long as you are sure it can't come off.
