I realize that when you block SA access it only adjusts the SA regions in ROM by one sector, thus blocking it's ability to read the dir. I'm just curious if this shift will affect tracks that are read and/or written while the region is modified? Or is the software smart enough to make the needed shift?
Only reason I ask is I'm working on a really quirky firmware case where the original drive does ID, but when I write tracks to hot start drive it doesn't.

Jared ,
My Brain Says It Should Not effect The Track reading Ability .Reason by shifting the ABA we are fooling Firmware so that it is not reading dir mod 01.rpm .As a experiment you could read one track of the drive ,then block access to it and read it again and compare both read tracks .I hope this helps brother
