HTS541010A9E680 - head swap didnt work ? why?

Subject: head swap didnt work ?

hi - I just did a head swap with hitachi tat I expected to work.
but the donor heads dont act like they can read the platters at all.
hitachi usually heads swap really easy.

What did I overlook?

I should have swapped the board before startiong just to test compatibility but i was so sure that it was going to work that I didnt bother.
If you swap boards isnt there a dnager that the nvram can be corrupted?

Hello,

The donor drive for Headswap procedure should have are same:
1. Full Model Number. Example: HTS541040G9AT00, IC25N040ATMR04-0
2. Part Number. Example: 0F10311, 0A30243
3. MLC. Example: BA1116, DA2010

Your donor drive is not compatible

Perhaps you'd be wise to familiarize yourself with this page: http://www.donordrives.com/hard-drive-pcb-donor-match

It explains what needs to match, what should match, and what it doesn't hurt to match.

Yes, it was getting a bit outdated before and has been greatly refined. I think Ace and DonorDrives working together has been a good choice for both companies.
