WD USB to SATA

Hi, I exchanged the USB interface to SATA and clone the drive. but the image is encrypted by WD smartware. Any one can help to decrypt the image. thanks

i think you have 2 ways:
1- connect the WD interface board which is used by WD hdd's in 3.5" hard disks so you can extract the data.
2- purchase new ACE PC3000 update that is contain decryption method in the utility.

Thank you for your reply. My drive is 2.5" and I swapped SATA PCB to replace the original USB PCB. And mirror the drive to 3.5" SATA drive. I have the encryption key from SA. but I don't know what is the next step to decrypt the image. thank again

cut LBA on 3.5" to matching LBA of 2.5". Next, make sure magic sector contains key (search for it from end of drive backward - you have key from SA so you know string to search). Next, connect to 3.5" MyBook bridge.

Or, if you have recent udpate, directly connect 3.5" HDD to DE and decrypt via decryption option

Dear Customers, It is not necessary to use any bridges to decrypt the data: PC-3000 can decrypt such drives "at the fly", all you need is to set the "Decrypt" checkbox in a special menu in Sector Edit mode or in Data Extractor.

Except for some Oxford based models where no key is stored at the drive - for this, original bridge containing the key would need to be used.
