scratch on visible platter surface : cut head ?

Hi there,

I wonder if, on cases where scratch are on visible platter surface : could we cut the head ?

I have a case where drive don't get RDY

Or, maybe disabling it in RAM in enough ?

Hello hdd49,

First of all you need to estimate heads and plates condition.
If only one head is damaged, it may be bended.
Switch off bended head using PC3K. Pair damaged head with another.
Try to read the data.
