WD20EARX

Postby pclab » 12.01.14, 12:09

Hi

I got a curious thing with this drive, that I can't manage.
The Pacient was always busy and doing a light click.
I had a perfect donor, and I swapped heads to test. No go.
I read the pacient ROM and wrote it on the Donor PCB.
Still nothing.
Then I swapped the heads back to the original drives and I wrote the donor ROM into the donor PCB.
The donor doesn't click, spins OK, but it doesn't get detected.
I have tried to use it's own 11.rpm as loader and nothing.
I get this: KEY_SECTOR_MUST_PRECEED_DATA_XFER_REQUEST.
Can't load module 02, etc, etc.
What does this mean? I have all the resources from this drive...
I want to get the donor back to life, so I can try a hotswap....
Thanks

Hai,

I wanted to know which tools you used for the Head Replacement.Because I also wanted to buy the Head replacement tools. Also the Clean room is very essential or not?
If clean room is essential how we can make the clean room and what are the steps to make the clean room.

I think from your posts that your experience is very minimal and DR is a new field for you. for this, your best option is to find a partner firm who you can outsource to until you are in better position to do such work yourself.

also, clean environment is important.

Hai Aj2008,
Surely I am Newcomer for this field. It doesn't mean that I cannot start the practice for the head replacement,or other things. And anyway once a day i have to do the work myself. How long I should depends on "OUTSource".Whoever start their work with minimal knowledge.

Still I am Using HDRC tools for the Head Replacement. But I am not satisfied

I mean outsource until you have confidence and experience with it. Otherwise there is risk to damage clients medias.

HDRC tools are very bad and not reliable. For your case the best tool is here:

http://www.hddsurgery.com/tool/hdds-wdc-3-5-ramp-p4

But because your model uses a ramp there are many ways to safely remove heads while keeping heads apart
