Power issues on MK1031GAS

Postby craig.lawson » 12.12.12, 15:50

Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster... :)

I have been trying to diagnose this PCB as I am aware simply swapping it will not work. I cannot see any ROM chips so am struggling with it a little, can anyone advise any tests? I have a very similar drive so have been comparing the results of various component tests, sadly I have found no differences so far...

Hello

On Toshiba drives , ROM chip is an 8 leg chip and has IC602 text closely.
On this board, the ROM is internal, inside the CPU chip(one with "M" logo). The only method I can suggest is unsoldering
whole CPU chip from original drive PCB and installing it to good working patient drive board.
With best regards

I feared you might say that...

Time to find someone who has better soldering skills than me!

Thanks!
