Hi,
I have a Seagate with damaged heads and small impacts on surface.
I change heads, now it remains BSY and I have this :
Rst 0x10M
No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags 2002A185
SIM Error 1002
I suppose impacts are on SA. What can be done with it ?

Re: ST3500418AS - SIM Error
SIM Error 1002 = drive is not able to write
This drive requires standart procedure with two steps:
1.Use good , working logic board to swap patient's ROM chip, then install that board to patient and check, what will come in terminal.
Check the log you have after startup. Check the terminal messages and status registers. If possible read all modules and CP's.
2. If 1st method did not help, try to swap heads. Leave new donor board on patient and see what will happen to drive.
Please report all the errors you got, after you will try that.

Re: ST3500418AS - SIM Error
I changed board with good one, HDD started (a little noisy), reading modules failed on 26. After that I could not start disk anymore. After reassembly, patient disk works good with his heads...
I changed heads once more, HDD starts, I can read data but there's a lot of errors and sometimes it stays BSY after OFF/ON. I will copy data until head crash.
Thanks !
