Software RAID 0 problem 7.5 TB

Postby hassan » 21.06.11, 11:21

Hello
I have 5 hard disk 1.5 TB
The drives were attached to windows server 2003 as a RAID 0 1.5TB x 5 = 7.5TB
The drives were Dynamic Disk and also GPT Disks
The problem is I can not reactive the RAID and access used data
All the drives working witout any bad sectors
Now i need the defaults configuration for this RAID array
Block Size=?
Starting sector=?
IS there any program can help to get the data back??

Best Regards.

Hi Hassan,

There's an app called "Raid Reconstructor" that can try to find out the parameters for you.
If that does not help, then a manual analysis must be made to discover it.

What was the failure?

Hi hasan, my advice 1st. clone those drives and use Winhex to find the hdd order/parameters

you can use winhex + RS but need the order of those drives 1st. in winhex and then goto RS

RAW recovery will help you to determine block size and header ;)
Take a look at the checked size value of some files (such as JPEGs, MFT record chains, office files), trransform values from kb to sectors.
And of course at first try such a typical values as block size = 128 sectors, header = difference between zero sector and MBR.
Sorry for late reply btw, this hint might be useful for other people.

I work on many RAID systems. for NTFS there is simple process that works in cases of RAID 0 in file counters. There is sequence to follow that will help construct manually.

Hope this helps 8)
