I have ST31000340AS 0MB problem

MDL ST31000340AS
FW ST 35


In the beginning this media has BSY problem.

It did resolve but now it is showing me 0MB and unable to fix.

I did refer PC3K user manual and short circuit in PCB as per it said in manual.

Now I am getting following msg.



Test : Solution for problem "Translation violation (0 GB)"
HDD capacity restrict. check (SetMax)...
HDD capacity restrict. check (SetMax)... : Error
SMART erase............................. : Ok
HDD capacity restrict. check (SetMax)...
HDD power supply switching OFF/ON...
COM port reconnection...
HDD capacity restrict. check (SetMax)... : Error
Error : Terminal : error detecting HDD terminal baud rate
Solution for problem "Translation violation (0 GB)"......... : Error

Any one can help me in this case plz.

Try doing it manually via terminal, then you can see what's actually happening.

It looks like the utility is struggling with terminal access.

Yes, try manually. And I also think if you post in correct section you may get better response.

Hello.

Before doing anything with PC-3000 utility, first unscrew the pcb and check if PCB has no visual damaged units and contacts between PCB and HDA are not aged. Useful thing is to take a multimeter and same good-known drive's PCB. Check contacts with ground and see, if resistance values are same on donor and on patient's pcb. Different values can be a result of faulty pcb. To make donor board compartible with patient drive, you have to resolder the ROM chip.

But if PCB is good, you may try next: Switch to terminal tab and press ctrl-z. Then try to perform heads test from Tools->User commands->Check heads.
If you will receive errors when checking heads, very likely your patient had head problems.

You can take heads stack from same model drive with same SITE CODE symbols and same or bigger capacity.
