DE feature request for HFS/HFS+/HFSX

Postby DR_Ireland » 30.04.09, 11:10

Hi.

I came across few Mac formatted hard drives. It's very nice of ACE Lab that data extractor can recover data from those partitions but the problems comes when file names contain unsupported characters - then just getting error and file cannot be retrieved. It would be very useful if those files could be renamed to something while being saved.

Or if there is such functionality (and I missed it somewhere) please let me know.

Thanks,
Pawel

I have seen similar problems, especially the files beginning with '.', such as '.dsstore'. In most cases I have been left with no option to mount task and use R-Studio, something I try to avoid doing.

I agree, but sometimes if filesystem is Ok and there are only few bad sectors it on the drive it is much faster to use Data Extractor than to image the drive and the use Mac to save data.
In some cases DataExtractor detected and listed proper data structure straight away and with Mac software I had to rune full scan to get the same result.
By the way, what software do you in OS X ?

When de dows not show data for mac drives, I use a combination of
DE Clone w/ XP Disk on + Vmware MacOSX + DRII
It has given me good results until now
