Recertified Seagates for Donors - risky?

Postby Data Angel » 04.04.23, 16:25

Hello All,

Did a search and found nothing on this:

Im running into quite an issue find compatible donors for st2000lm007s, which I put in a past post.

Found one that is compatible but is recertified. the DOM fits within the range and every other important number is a match. Is this a viable donor for a head stack if is within 45 days of DOM and refurbished in 2020?

thought id ask if anyone has gone down this road and succeed or hit the wall?

thanks!

Never used DOM for matching Rosewoods, match preamp and vendor and all four heads for for a 2TB.
Generally recertified Seagates, you know the drive already had issues needing it to be "recertified" :)
Have seen four headed 500GB and 1TB recertified drives, probably born as 2 TB drives but failed before leaving the factory.
