While I can appreciate that the cost is justified by the complexity of the recovery, it is a shame that the majority of SandForce SSD recovery cases go unrecovered simply because the cost is just too high for the majority of owners. I do hope that there is a breakthrough soon so that we can make it more affordable and help more people get their data back.

Is there anyone who also play with SF controllers and temperature? In this week, I got 3 different SF case, each drive stuck at busy, without reach rdy state. After reball and cool down under -10C SSD got ready and I can read the whole drive, without any error.

It's a very interesting for me. I know that lower temp=lower resistance, but I want to know that I have very big luck with this cases or It can really help the SF controllers in deathrow.

Dear FredW, in my case, reballing just the controller was enough, but since, I got case where memory reball also needed. For this "solution" the drive have to be in good logical condition, because translator building and any other logical action is imposible.

I have a Kingston SSDNOw 200 V+ 120GB. Comes ready but then goes BSY after you try to read it.

Power it off, create a task in DE, allowing it to power it on. If it IDs, power it off again and send the command to image. If it doesn't read, you need to send to Northwind in Greece or ACE in Texas.

Trying the Lcoughey technique now, does the drive have to be shorted at all? If not, my drive can't be recovered with that method.
I'll have to contact Northwind in Greece or ACE in Texas.

There's no point of shorting it. If you have no way to rebuild the translator it's pointless. The only way is to run it as it is.

When you short the drive in SAFE MODE you just block access to the NAND chips. That's all what you are doing. It can help to reach READY state and work with CPU-RAM if drive was in BSY (loop of uploading damaged FW attempt-reset-uploading-reset-uploading and etc), but data will remain to be on the NAND and be unavailable for you. You need a loader to make it work after SAFE MODE.
